This is a good news, bad news announcement. First, the bad news. If you’re like my wife and I, and carry extra weight, you are not alone. The Center for Disease Control reports that 65 percent of Americans are overweight, with 1 in 4 considered obese (sadly, a large number are children).
The good news is it’s not entirely our fault. Sure, the way we eat and our somewhat lazy lifestyles has something to do with it. But the reason why our bodies store fat is also a big part.
We store fat for survival. It’s a natural process where the body stores fat for energy for the short term, in case of a disaster like famine or food shortages, for example. We’re actually very efficient at storing fat because of a hormone in our blood called leptin. Leptin’s the trigger in the blood stream that tells the body to store fat.
As we age, leptin levels naturally increase, making weight gain easier, and weight loss harder. Increased leptin levels are also a primary contributor to heart disease and diabetes. Wanting to lower our leptin levels just seems like a no-brainer.
Lowering leptin levels, however, is not that easy. (Until now that is-there is a simple solution…please read on.) Researchers have been trying since the early 1980’s to lower leptin levels (when leptin was discovered to be the body’s fat storage regulator). Exercise doesn’t lower leptin, and neither does dieting. In fact, low and no fat diets seem to raise the leptin levels, creating just the opposite condition we need to lose weight, and actually gain more weight. That’s a problem.
Here’s the solution. Research done by the University of Minnesota uncovered the “key” to the fat storing lock called leptin. last year i have so much Body fat because of a very bad diet and lack of exercise. now i am doing lots of Cardio to reduce the fat specially on my tummy.
